Business Builder programme concludes third successful cohort

UCL School of Management and Fashion Business School, London College of Fashion (UAL), have concluded the third year of the Business Builder Programme, celebrating another successful cohort of entrepreneurs and small business owners from across east London.

Delivered in collaboration with Enterprise4Good, the free programme supports early-stage businesses through expert teaching, practical workshops and peer networking.

This year’s cohort brought together ventures spanning personal training, coffee blending, consultancy and many more sectors, reflecting the diversity of London’s entrepreneurial community.

The first alumni event

A new addition to this year’s programme was the first Business Builder alumni event, bringing together participants from all three cohorts. The session, led by UCL School of Management Associate Professor, and founder of Foundology, Christina Richardson, explored founder resilience, which is the no.1 trait entrepreneurs say they need for a life of entrepreneurship. It provided alumni with further opportunities to learn, reconnect and continue supporting one another as their businesses grow.

In this session, we turned the lens on to the business leaders themselves – because they are a vital asset in their businesses too – and one that regularly ends up at the bottom of the to-do list. Grounded in the Founder Resilience Research, which uncovers just how important a business owners’ personal capacity and resources are to business building, the interactive workshop dived into the neuroscience of pressure and sustainable performance, and empowered all the business owners to identify simple day-to-day steps to boost their performance, without stealing time from their startup mission.

Throughout the programme, participants developed practical skills across key areas of business development while building valuable relationships with fellow founders facing similar opportunities and challenges.

A big Thank you

Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s programme, as well as the academic staff, partners and alumni who helped make it another successful year. We look forward to seeing the continued success of this year’s cohort and welcoming future entrepreneurs to the programme.
