UCLSoM officially launches three brand new speaker series

UCL School of Management officially launched its brand-new Speaker Series earlier this month. Inviting speakers from a range of industries and backgrounds to showcase their experiences and skillsets in a variety of formats, the Series welcomes authentic experiences, expertise and stories.

As part of the first-ever New Technology & Innovation Speaker Series, the School hosted UCL alumna and author, Nimisha Tailor, whose recent book The Female Digital Revolution, offers a unique perspective on the role of women in the digital economy through research and real-life experiences.

On Monday 20 January, we were joined by Mark Edwards, who shared his extensive professional experiences at our Business Leaders Speaker Series. Mark brought his expertise in finance, business management and leadership to our audience, exploring a range of management and leadership styles. He also forecasted the future of investment environments.

Lastly, former judge in the Court of Appeal of England and Wales and UCL Professor of Intellectual Property Law, Sir Robin Jacob visited Canary Wharf on Tuesday 21 January. As part of the UCL Experts & Thought Leaders Speaker Series, Robin hosted a roundtable discussion, where he delved into the vital function of the patent system in medical innovation, addressing the problems of cost and time, as well as risk and reward. Robin also discussed the significance of medicine and vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic, focussing particularly on the move for a ‘patent waiver’ and its subsequent impact.
