Carisa Lam is a PhD candidate in Organizational Behaviour at UCL School of Management in London. Her research examines how the relationships embedded in work shape employees’ experiences, well-being, creativity, judgment, and performance, with a particular focus on human–animal work. She is especially interested in how working with animals (as collaborators, beneficiaries, subjects of care, and responsive others) changes what work requires and how employees experience and accomplish it.

Carisa uses human–animal work as a theoretically revealing context for extending research on workplace relationships, relational job design, and human-nonhuman interaction. Her research draws on a range of quantitative and qualitative methods and has been published in leading management journals, including Personnel Psychology and the Journal of Management.

Her current projects examine how human–animal work shapes employee creativity, how relationships of care and responsibility influence workers’ experiences, and how wildlife photographers navigate uncertainty and develop creative opportunities through their interactions with animals.
